solid specials for range and carry

I purchased these PMC rounds while I wait for Federal Punch 44Spl to become widely available - as if anything in 44Spl will ever be "widely available." Bullet weight and powder charge are similar between these and the punch, so I expect that these are suitable for training. Really the only difference should be the "fancier" projectile from Federal, and I have no reason to believe that PMC's 180-gr HP bullet would significantly underperform the punch for real-world work. From a Winchester 1892 chambered in 44 magnum, these are pussycat rounds - lots of fun to shoot, and with plenty of power for up to small whitetail sized game (not with the HP projectile, though). I have not experienced any feed failures from the special's shorter case, but as with any lever gun, your mileage may vary, Where these get really fun to shoot is with the 22oz snubbie. They're LOUD. I expected them to be harder on the palm than they are - if I was going through a hundred rounds at once I would probably opt for a padded glove, but in running through 25 rounds I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of hand abuse. I may end up adopting these for carry, but will decide after I get to try the punch. I am confident that the PMC rounds will continue to serve well for training regardless.
